Some Common Causes of Diarrhea

When you have diarrhea, your bowel movements or stools become loose and watery. This is quite common and usually not serious. People with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) get it more often than most. People commonly get diarrhea a few times in a year and only last about 2 – 3 days. Our physicians frequently get a few patients with these concerns.

People usually get diarrhea from a virus getting into your gut and are often referred to as “stomach flu” or “intestinal flu”. There are, however, other causes which we at Above Urgent Care Center have listed below. Take a look:

  • Alcohol abuse.
  • Diabetes.
  • Running – also called “runner’s diarrhea”.
  • Overactive thyroid.
  • “Malabsorption” – trouble absorbing certain nutrients.

Having diarrhea doesn’t necessarily mean that you have an infection, it could be any number of causes. So if you notice the symptoms of diarrhea on yourself, stop by Urgent Care in Montclair, California so proper examinations and remedies can be provided for you.

Our walk-in clinic in California is open 7 days a week from 8 am to 8 pm should you need any urgent medical attention. No need to make any appointments, just drop by our establishment so we can help you out.
